Features that probably won't be implemented in gPodder are listed here. If you want to ask for them, be sure to have some good use cases and arguments why you need this and send a mail to the Mailing List.

[edit] Categories for Channels/Channel Tree

This won't be implemented at the moment, because it makes using gPodder a lot harder. We might find some other solutions to this problem, though (only display channels that have new episodes, etc..).

[edit] Download strategies

Armangil's podcatcher has these. It's about listening to podcasts in chronologic order or to only download the single latest episode of a channel, regardless of played state or downloaded state. gPodder will not support this in the near future.

[edit] Different sort order for episodes

Currently, we don't plan to support sorting episodes other than chronologically the way it is now (sort by release date). This includes sorting by status, episode name and file size.

[edit] Show playtime of episodes

This is not possible without downloading all episodes first, because the RSS feed only contains the file size in bytes, and not the media length. Also, for some kinds of episodes (e.g. PDF files), there is no playtime.

[edit] Prioritize download and synchronization

You can already do this manually by simply selecting the episodes you want to copy/download and click on the corresponding button. Priority settings make the whole interface more complicated than it should be, so we are very likely not going to implement that.

[edit] ID3 and tag editing

If you really want this feature, you have to come up with a very good concept on how you would implement it and still keep the user interface usable. This includes special cases like non-media files (like PDFs) and treating all media types (MP3, Ogg, avi, etc..) equivalent, so users can edit the tags of Ogg files or MP4 files as well as MP3 files.
